Awarding a social holiday
Holidays are granted to those most in need of supported holidays. We send invitations to those who have been granted a holiday approximately two months before the holiday begins, either by email or by post. Please note that we do not notify applicants of negative decisions.
Factors affecting the granting of holidays:
Previous supported holidays
- First-time applicants are given priority.
- A supported holiday can be granted at most once every three years, and no more than three times within ten years.
- Supported holidays granted by other holiday organizations are also taken into account.
Financial reasons
- Supported holidays are aimed at low-income individuals and families for whom taking a holiday would otherwise be difficult or impossible.
- Financial reasons may include low income, large debts, medical expenses, or housing costs.
Social reasons
- Social reasons may include unemployment, layoff, loneliness, caregiving responsibilities, family situation, need for peer support, or other difficult life circumstances.
Health reasons
- Health reasons may include physical or mental illnesses, or disabilities.
Loma ja Terveys ry makes holiday decisions in accordance with the guidelines of STEA.
